Denver Water’s Finance Division/ Treasury Section is currently seeking a qualified candidate to assist us as a Finance Analyst Under general supervision, performs work involving analytical, administrative, and evaluative analysis of financial information. May be assigned to perform tasks involving cash and debt management, financial market forecasting, contract support or the retirement plan trust fund. May be assigned to cross functional project teams or to assist with cross-training of other personnel engaged in treasury activities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  •          Responsible for resolving and completing inquiries and requests to meet deadlines.
  •          Thoroughly and accurately gather, review and analyze information with supervision appropriate to their level.
  •          All assignments completed with accuracy and attention to detail.
  •          Regularly exercise judgment to resolve problems and determine appropriate action.
  •          Contributes to the creation and maintenance of a positive work environment; seeks to discover the “truth” vs. operate on assumptions.
  •          Works collaboratively with others, acting as a resource, sharing ideas, recognizing interdependencies.
  •          Maintains positive, open communication with customer, to ensure understanding of expectations and creation of a positive working partnership.
  •          Preform the analysis of data related to cash flows, retirement plan and debt management.  Prepare and analyze revenue and expenditures projections, prepare/update/analyze liquidity forecast; determines availability of excess funds and debt financing requirements for the short and long term.
  •          Participate in internal portfolio management including analysis of investment alternatives, consistent with legal requirements, Board policy and prudent financial management, utilizing financial and mathematical models to generate decision making data regarding yield, cost and other market characteristics; complete trades; review and monitor credit quality.
  •          Evaluate banking transactions and monthly fee payments for errors and make corrections/propose solutions.
  •          Compile Treasury budget and analyze budget variances on a periodic basis.
  •          Provide assistance in RFP process for banking and consulting services
  •          Gather, analyze and compile data for debt issuance, pension plan management and investment portfolio management; 
  •          Manage databases containing debt issuance documentation, pension plan management, investment portfolio documentation, etc.; maintain Denver Water’s Investor Page; establish/maintain relationships with external consultants, managers and broker-dealers.
  •          Participate in project task groups utilizing standard project evaluation tools (NPV, IRR, ROI, etc) to support business decisions across the organization.
  •          Keep abreast of, and interpret market conditions as they relate to the investment of the water works fund, retirement plan trust fund, and the debt management program; make recommendations on investment and financing practices based on these market interpretations.
  •          This position does not have formal supervisory responsibilities over other employees.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  •          Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or a related field.
  •          Minimum 2 years of related work experience.
  •          Any equivalent combination of certifications, education, or experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities for the position.

 

Licenses, Registration and Certifications:

  •          May require HIPAA Training.

  •          Strategic thinking.
