Provide assistance to the Treasury Operations function within the Treasury Department and demonstrate functional expertise in the areas of hedge program management, preparation of hedge committee materials and other general finance.  The individual will have functional expertise in consumable commodities, precious metal sales, precious metal financing and refining contract review.

Essential Duties

Hedging and Derivatives – 75%

  • Manage current and future FX and commodity hedge programs with the assistance of the Assistant Treasurer
  • Perform mark to market and effectiveness testing calculations, explain variances
  • Perform regression and other statistical analyses
  • Create monthly Hedge Committee presentations
  • Work closely with the Accounting Department to explain programs and support hedge accounting treatment
  • Lead design and implementation of future hedge programs as needed
  • Support back office function for hedge trades and confirmations

Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) – 5%

  • Work with the Enterprise Risk Management team as primary Treasury representative
  • Manage Treasury ERM heat map and identified risks related to Treasury Department
  • Provide quarterly reporting on ERM risks

Precious Metal Sales – 10%

  • Assist with precious metal sales process
  • Precious metal sales finance agreement negotiation
  • Analysis of precious metals market (i.e. Lease rates, forward curves, macro environment variables)

SOX Administration – 5%

  • Administer SOX requirements of the Treasury Department (SOX Champion role)
  • Maintain compliance documentation and provide monthly SOX reporting via Risk Resolver application
  • Perform quarterly reviews of SOX flowcharts and key controls to ensure compliance
  • Update flowcharts and key controls as necessary

Other Treasury Operations – 5%

  • Assist in creation of slide presentations related to various Finance related topics

Training & Experience

  • BS degree in Finance, Accounting or similar field.  Masters degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years working experience in treasury, derivatives or related field.
  • Successful completion of CFA level 2 exam or higher strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience or demonstratable knowledge of hedging instruments and derivatives required
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets for statistical analysis and commercial evaluations.
  • Prior experience using derivative valuation software such as Reval. 
  • Strong Microsoft Powerpoint skills

Working Conditions

  • Based out of Newmont's Corporate head office
  • Available to work overtime as required
  • Travel requirements of <5% away from the corporate office
