Lapis Advisers, LP is an alternative investment management firm that was founded in 2009 to invest primarily in distressed, unique and special situation opportunities in the municipal market and related sectors, including investments in both the primary and secondary markets. Our investment professionals each have decades of experience in distressed investment strategies across several industries, sectors, and asset classes. Lapis is seeking to add an Investment Analyst to our portfolio management team. The Investment Analyst will work directly with Managing Directors in a supporting role through the life cycle of an investment. The ideal candidate will have an acumen for problem solving, a willingness to learn, a focus on detail and an ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.   • Perform qualitative and quantitative initial investment screening;
  • Assist in review of prospective investment materials, public filings, and other available information and present findings and recommendations;
  • Perform in-depth due diligence on potential investments, including financial, operational and legal aspects of the investment;
  • Develop and maintain financial models for investment and valuation purposes;
  • Assist in developing investment memoranda, financial models, and presentation materials;
  • Monitor and report on monthly performance of investments;
  • Conduct market and industry research on potential investments and current portfolio; and
  • Support firm and senior investment professionals with ad-hoc financial analysis and special projects, as required.


  • Bachelor’s degree;
  • One to three years of experience in a finance position;
  • Strong financial and qualitative skills with experience in financial modeling;
  • Track record of outperforming expectations;
  • Excellent intrapersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills;
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to show initiative and self-direction;
  • Advanced Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills;
  • Experience in municipals, distressed investing, bankruptcy or restructuring is a plus; and
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation or CFA Level I-III Candidate a plus.
