  • What strategies and tactics can prepare candidates for recruitment, promotion, and a successful career?

Explore ways for students to take early ownership of their careers, learn about the variety of career paths available, and understand the value of working in finance. We will also discuss how organizations can frame their student outreach to attract those who have yet to learn about the options available in finance.

Sheila Duffy is a director of investment advisory services for Public Trust Advisors. Previously, she served as Chief Investment Officer for the State Treasurer of New Mexico. Ms. Duffy serves on the national board of Women in Public Finance, where she co-chairs the mentorship committee, and she is a member of CFA Society of Colorado and CFA Society of New Mexico. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in administrative science from Colby College and a Master of Business Administration degree in finance from New York University’s Stern School of Business.

Samantha T. Grant, CFA, is a consultant for Marquette Associates, where she is a member of the investment committee, traditional investment manager search committee, and sustainable investing committee. Previously, she worked as an investment research analyst at Mesirow Financial, where she developed their defined contribution consulting group’s manager due diligence program, and at Northern Trust, where she advised institutional clients and ultra-high-net-worth families. Ms. Grant also holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst designation, and she has received a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and a Master of Business Administration degree in finance from Florida A&M University.

Elizabeth Funk is a managing director at Hilltop Securities in debt capital markets, where she is head of high-yield underwriting. Previously, she served as a director in the municipal securities division at Citigroup and held various roles in municipal public finance and capital markets groups at Stifel. Ms. Funk serves on the national board of Women in Public Finance, where she co-chairs the mentorship committee. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from University of Kansas and a Master of Business Administration degree in finance and accounting from Regis University.

Amy McGarrity, CFA, is chief investment officer of the Public Employees’ Retirement Association of Colorado. Previously, she worked at William Blair as a global equity product specialist and held investment positions at Buck Consultants, Prima Capital Holding, William M. Mercer Investment Consulting, and Caxton Corporation. Ms. McGarrity is a member of the SEC Fixed Income Market Structure Advisory Committee and serves on the boards of the Colorado Secure Savings Plan and the Healthy Markets Association. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from the University of Wyoming and a Master of Business Administration degree from Rider University.
